What are the odds of losing 12 tosses in a row, eh ?  Sadly enough, you'll find the answer to that question here.....

We'd travelled to West Drayton with the hope that they may have strengthened their side after the previous weeks one-sided encounter and, to a certain extent, they had but were still woefully below strength and you'd have to question whether or not we'll be seeing them again next year. I'm sure that Skippy would like to play against them every week having just taken their bowlers for 211 runs without getting out. Equally Stanners would love to bowl against them with figures of 24-10-55-11 (he also took 4-36 against them last year). However the rest of us would really like to play again really soon......

Having lost the toss (just for a nice change), we were not looking forward to toiling in the heat for a couple of hours - it really was a scorcher - on an outfield that resembled a ploughed field. Fat Bloke found a family of Sumalian refugees hiding in one of the holes in the outfield and I was concerned that Stick might fall into one and never be found again. Not too concerned, obviously.

The West Drayton batsmen started off in positive form and for 20 minutes I thought we might have a match on our hands but Stanners soon stepped up a gear and put in an awesome display of bowling that would have troubled far better players. Mr V bowled well at the other end but, as is so often the case, found himself wicketless whilst Golden Bollocks at the other end rattled through the opposition like a....ermm....thing that rattles through oppositions a lot. Aided by some athletic fielding (most notably Stick) and some indifferent bounce, the Iver bowlers got stuck into some real average boosting bowling and DHB must also be looking through the West Drayton fixture list with a view to guesting for the visiting sides having taken 5-14 in the last two matches.

Skippy continued where he left off the previous week and proceeded to take apart the bowling with consumate ease whilst Fat Bloke nudged, nurdled and waddled his way to 16 before being caught in the deep by a player that is unlikely to take a better catch all season - Animal would have been proud of pouching that one. Frank Skinner made the most of his promotion up the order and ably assisted the rampant Skippy to ease us to victory with plenty of time to spare.

Man of the Match : Iain Stanfield (Stanners) - 86 points

Post Script : Perhaps it was the large amount of beer I drank after the game but I woke up Monday morning convinced that the captain had come up to me during the game and started to make strange tutting noises in my ear whilst looking around in an agitated manner. "What's the matter, Skippy ?" I remember me saying, "has Stick fallen down the mineshaft at mid off ?"
