If catches win matches then drops sure must make it pretty tough.....and 9 in one match really is taking the piss. Don't ask me how we managed to put 9 catches down but we did - some in spectacular style. Personally I'd have taken us all off half way through the innings and bought on the fielding sustitutes (y'know....Stephen Hawkins, Joey Deacon, Davros) but then again, we weren't playing Boyne Hill......ho hum. Let's not take anything away from the Bucks batsmen - they rode their luck and got the runs....simple as that. Mr V, Stanners and Double Hard Bastard all bowled well and got the batsman playing and missing. Only problem was that when they didn't miss, we couldn't catch. Set 200 to win, Iver got off to the worst start with Skippy gone within 6 minutes and Roll On following a turgid 16 minutes later with Alien skipping gaily into the changing room 11 runs later. Stanners and Fat Bloke managed to put a few runs on the board and Iver new boy Paul "Frank Skinner" Taylor pushed a few around and we started to look like we could get a result but wickets fell quickly (4 in 7 overs) and we were left with Stick and Scoop holding on for an improbable draw. With 12 balls remaining Stick was bowled and that was that. Man of the Match : Iain Stanfield (Stanners) - 70 points Post Script : In the (now) traditional Bucks Quiz Night after the game, the Old Gits (Scoop, Magnet, Stick, Frank Skinner and Fat Bloke) beat Norfolk 'n' Chance (Mr V, Double Hard Bastard, Alien, Mr & Mrs Roll On) by 4 points by cheating and having an unfair advantage of being born in the 19th Century when most of the questions seemed to have been set..... |
