Bowling figures to follow

At last ! We've found a pitch that we can sneer at and say "You'd never find a strip like that prepared at Iver". It was certainly a result wicket and no mistake ! Shooters....lifters....poppers....grubbers....hmmm - sounds like an advert in a gay contact magazine. Not that I've seen any of them, of course. Ho hum.

An added bit of spice to this game was the appearance in the opposition of Ian "Macbeth" Gillett and Phil "Macduff" Mison from the recent One Off (the wrist) Theatre Companies production. The Iver side featured Richard "Banquo" Stocks, Mike "Ross" Busson and Pete "Married to Lady Macbeth - does that count ?" Abell. A real collection of luvvies - you can imagine some of the appeals for LBW !!

The game itself was brief with the Gypsies probably having the worst of a spiteful pitch and being bowled out for 57. Star of the show was the Chodmeister with the first hat-trick in 6 years including the "prized" wicket of the wonderfully attired (nice jumper, Phil - almost beats *that* pink number) Mison - lay on Macduff ? Stanners and Ginger both bowled well and could have had some more wickets if it wasn't for the SIX dropped catches !

Both TMWNN and Roll On were victims of the pitch (spotting a trend on my dismissals yet ?) before Animal and Alien came in and bludgeoned the necessary runs for victory.

Man of the Match : Doug Vigar (The Chodmeister) 82 points

Post Script - the resulting beer match featured 11 year old Aaron Stocks making his debut for the club and it was good to see a budding young left handed bat (batting right handed, for some reason) come out and enjoy the game. Well...he would have enjoyed it but for the fact that Stick dropped an absolute sitter off his bowling. Aaron was last seen running from the ground, his tear stained face a heart breaking sight. Stick was last seen in the bar saying "it's a mans game...the lad needs to learn about pain".
